A father's Wedding gift for a highly accomplished author, explorer and photographer is a difficult choice indeed. Adding to the mix, her passion to champion the rights of ancient cultures and the forgotten tribes of Africa, the Amazon and many more around the world, has tested his ingenuity.
Understanding his daughter's need for very little in the form of possessions and that living and travelling extremely lightly is one of her endearing philosophies. The task seemed impossible, until that is, he realized her most treasured possssions were the little things collected and gifted to her by extrodinary people from around the globe - A Memory Box was the obvious answer to his dilemma.
The box is created in English Burr Walnut, banded in Macassa and strung in Boxwood. The centre of the lid is decorated with an open fan of Satinwood and Black dyed Sycamore. The lift up lid encloses a fitted document wallet which has an expanding gusset and full length strap fixed with a turned Walnut peg. A pair of Oak removable trays are fitted, one on top of the other and divided into compartments all upholstered in leather. The top tray is fitted with a "special things" box with a silver lid hallmarked, dated and inscribed with a personal message from Dad.
